As the AI landscape continues to evolve, enterprises are faced with a daunting challenge: how to harness the power of artificial intelligence without compromising security. This move reflects broader industry trends, where companies are struggling to balance the benefits of AI with the risks of data breaches and cyber threats. According to a recent MIT report, 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing, highlighting the need for a secure and reliable solution.
Nexos.ai, a startup founded by Nord Security co-founders Tomas Okmanas and Eimantas Sabaliauskas, is tackling this issue head-on. The company has raised €30 million in Series A funding, led by Index Ventures and Evantic Capital, to develop a platform that acts as a middleman between employees and AI systems. This platform, dubbed “Switzerland for LLMs,” aims to keep data under control without sacrificing productivity gains.
“The biggest corporate data leak” is currently in the making, as employees upload sensitive information to LLMs, according to Okmanas. Rather than banning AI use, Nexos.ai wants to provide a neutral intermediary, allowing companies to adopt AI tools securely. With its AI Workspace interface and AI Gateway, the platform reduces fragmentation and provides a single access point to over 200 AI models.
The funding will be used to accelerate support for private models for sensitive data and expand across Europe and North America. Nexos.ai is focusing on tech-savvy companies and those operating in regulated industries, which have concerns about governance and sending sensitive data to AI models hosted in foreign countries. As Okmanas notes, “That’s why we didn’t need to hire 500 people and saved €10 million this year alone” at Hostinger, a web hosting provider that has seen significant benefits from AI adoption.
This development is significant, as it highlights the growing need for secure AI adoption in enterprises. With the rise of AI, companies must prioritize data security and governance to avoid costly breaches and reputational damage. Nexos.ai’s solution has the potential to unlock broader AI adoption, enabling companies to reap the benefits of AI while minimizing the risks.
